    This 62 Allan is similar to the Cambridge wide margin called the eagle

    I think they need to take the text out of the gutter a bit more. The gutter may like some note taking space as well you know... Plus, it would look more balanced.

    Hello Tim, I have watched many of your videos on bible review. May I know what is your every-day-carry (EDC) bible, i.e. a bible that you carry it on-the-go daily?

      I continue to use several Bibles regularly, but the NRSV1 from R.L. Allan has become very special after it was the only Bible I took with me to Oxford last fall.

      Hey Tim, In your opinion Whats is a couple of the best premium Nkjv bibles on the market today to carry or preach from??? Thanks, Bjb

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  3 года назад +1

      Hey Barry! If you want super premium, the NKJV Topaz from Cambridge and the NKJV Quentel from Schuyler are both fantastic... but I'm also a HUGE fan of what Thomas Nelson has been doing with their latest NKJV releases. The Maclaren is awesome, as well as any of the Premier Collection NKJV Bibles.

      @@timwildsmith Hey my man... U know what --those exact 3 brands are exactly what I was thinking. Lol!!! Yes, Just today I thought about the Thomas nelson premium preaching bibles in the nkj version, could very well be better than the big 3: (Camb, Schuyler, RL Alan-- because, they R limited in their nkjv option. And until Cambridge came out w/ the topaz, they were limited,; And; Schuyler also, until they came out w/ their most recent nkjv option. But yes, T Nelson has definitely picked up their game!!!! --Anyway, I wanted to get an expert opinion from Tim, "The WILDMAN" PREMIUM Bible guy 1ST . 😇😇 Thanks a bunch for your response!!! Love your work!!! Bjb

    Excellent review, brother. R.L. Allans are my favorite bibles. Partial to the 52 and the Brevier Clarendon just based on dimensions. And I love the full yapp on the Brevier. Again, good job. Looking forward to the forthcoming Thursdays. And, FWIW: Mare-eh-vuh.

    Beautiful Bibles. The calfskin looks really really nice. The special edition plum and petrol blue look amazing, but even in a "regular" black or navy blue, this would be very special.

    I see that Bibles Direct has the 63 in stock now. It would be a want, not a need for me, so I am going to have to skip especially considering the price. It would be nice to have though.

    I wish they made the longprimer in other versions! I love the KJV for reading the Gospels and Acts aloud, but overall I’d prefer an ESV or a CSB in Longprimer, that’s just a dream though 😂

    I just ordered one of these in the NASB, but got the KJV instead. If I didn't laugh, I would cry. lol. Anyway, I'm fine with the KJV too. Maybe next one they can get the order correct. I know which link I clicked on, but received this. It's still a very beautiful Bible!! 😇

    the size of the text is called the Print Size, the Font refers to the style of the text, i.e. Times New Roman. with all due respect, Pastor Tim, i just wanted to point that out.

    i looked up how to pronounce Meriva and i learned that the phonetic spelling is both Meri-va and Me-riva so, i'm guessing you could say it either way and both would be correct.

    How is this bible different from the Allan Oxford wide margin bible?

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  3 года назад

      I believe the typesetting is different, and this has smaller margins all the way around.

  • @jadedoldguy5233

    Following up, just picked up a new Allan 52 in this same color and straight away noticed a line running up and down the length of the spine, just off center and to the left. Much like those Schuyler Treveris spines. Reached out to Evangelical Bible and was told it was the infamous "Oxford Hollow." Wondering if this one you've reviewed here has that, though it doesn't appear so from the video or from the pics on your blog. It's a gorgeous bible, but that is slightly off-putting and unsure why, now, after centuries of bible making, someone saw the need for an "Oxford Hollow," particularly for a bible that isn't all that heavy or large to begin with.

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  3 года назад

      Not sure what's going on... seems like a few of the recent new editions coming out of Royal Jongbloed have had more noticeable Oxford Hollows on the spine.

      @@timwildsmith - Yes, in some pics/vids, it cannot be seen at all. In others, it's much more prominent. Aesthetically, it's not the nicest thing to see, but, as a whole, the Bible is still a work of absolute beauty (both inside and out).

    Is the paper any less reflective than the others or Cambridge paper?

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  3 года назад +1

      Hmmm… I’m afraid I don’t quite know what you mean. I’ve never thought of this paper as reflective.

    • @p.williamfox6417
      @p.williamfox6417 3 года назад

      Tim Wildsmith Sorry I meant like how light glares off of paper? I have a couple Bibles that are really nice made but light reflects back really bad off of the paper making it harder for me to read. I was curious about the Allan 62 or 63 since it has a textured paper. I greatly appreciate your reply.

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  3 года назад +1

      @@p.williamfox6417 Gotcha. I have not had that problem. The 62 and 63 do have slightly different paper designed for writing, so I would guess that it may have a bit less of that glare to your eye.
